Liang Dian Design Center (LDDC) is Beijing’s very first center dedicated entirely to design. Situated in a newly renovated building in the heart of Dongcheng District, LDDC was founded by Ms Ding Ping in 2011. Their mission is to promote Chinese creativity and design through organizing exhibitions, workshops and events, and to generate an increased awareness and appreciation of Chinese design across both local and international audiences.
Of their 9000 square meter space, 2500 square meters have been allocated towards exhibitions and events, as well as a café and design store. The remaining space is occupied by architecture and design studios to stimulate cross-disciplinary dialogue and to, ultimately, bring the local creative community closer together.
Headed by Ms Ding Ping, the LDDC team comprise of highly motivated and passionate individuals who believe in the power of design to create positive change within the community. Ms Ding Ping herself has over 10 years’ experience in the lighting design and architecture fields, whilst extended periods of stay in Thailand, UK and Taiwan has helped to shape a deep understanding of design in different cultures.
Everything they do – from the exhibitions, displays and programs they organize, to how they manage the center – is driven by a commitment to their visitors.
LDDC holds stimulating exhibitions and engaging public events programs. They have allocated three independent areas totaling more than 1500 square meters for these events, including their signature Glass Box. Together with their café and design shop, they aim to provide visitors with the ultimate sensory experience.
